Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of working with Melanie Farmer, a lifetime photographer based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It’s about dang time I celebrated this awesome lady on the blog! 🤩🍾🙌🏼 Melanie is such a fun and vibrant human, and it was truly my honor to create a brand design + custom Showit website that brought her personality into her business identity! 🥹
On her homework, Melanie said she wanted to be like Buc-ee’s and do all the things, rather than niching down, so we built a website that showcased all of her incredible services 👏🏼
I want to be a Buckee’s. Most educators will tell you to “niche down” and be a Ruth’s Chris in one particular area of expertise, but I want to be a Buckee’s and do a little bit of everything WELL! I want to be my client’s lifetime photographer. Anytime they have a fun idea for photos or life milestone, I want to celebrate that with them. I want them to be able to have so much versatility in my work that it makes me a one stop shop for all my client’s photo needs!
Speaking of her homework, Melanie mentioned that her “why” is to serve people well, and I’m not even going to try to rephrase what she wrote because it’s so powerful, so take a look:
I WANT TO SERVE PEOPLE WELL!!!! This job is not about me. Yes, I get to have so much fun getting creative and meeting new people (its the best job ever), but I really love what I do because I get to bring peoples visions to life. I get to be trusted with such special and memorable moments that make up my clients lives! It’s baffling to think they trust me to capture it well, so thats what I intend to do!
Melanie texted me just one week after launching and said she’s attracting inquiries with more depth and it’s reiterating her vision for her business 🥹🩷
Her beautiful images have such rich colors, specifically gorgeous greens and glowing sunshine, so my biggest goal for her color palette and resulting brand/website design was to enhance those colors rather than try to compete with them. Anyone who has ever met Melanie can attest to the fact that she is a literal ray of sunshine, and she captures the sun perfectly in every photo she takes, so I incorporated a nod to that in her design. The last element I want to share about is the bee graphic. For some reason, while we were in the initial design phase for her brand, I kept getting drawn to using a bee in the logo, but I couldn’t figure out why. Once I showed it to Melanie, she told me that her best friend who passed away’s favorite thing was honey bees, and it felt so perfect for her.
Whether your goal is to raise rates, book a higher caliber of clientele, design rave-worthy client experiences, or build a more flexible lifestyle, we’ll create a newfound confidence in your business with a brand you’re proud to stand behind.
Here’s what Melanie had to say about working together:
I felt like my visual identity was very limited before we started working together. It did the job with getting people in touch with me, but it didn’t do justice to my work or my personality which is vital for attracting who you want to work with!
I feel so much more confident in my brand after having worked with Jordan. She knows what she is doing and makes the whole process so simple! She listened to who I am, what I love and collaborated the two perfectly!
Amazing!
I love my logo and color palette so SO much! Literally could stare at them all day.
Um, what? Call Jordan right now.
