Today we’re chatting about my custom Showit website design project with Sarah Nann Photography! This project was a bit different than what I normally do, but gosh I certainly loved it! Sarah had already carefully designed a logo for herself, so she wasn’t looking for full brand design, buuuuut, I met her halfway and fleshed out what she had already begun, and then executed that more in her website!
(pssst- if you’re looking for an explanation on what a brand design project looks like vs what a website design project looks like, read here)
I typically summarize what we uncover during the dream client profile stage, but Sarah worded it so eloquently that I’m just going to paste that right in below:
“I desire to work with high-end, luxury-seeking, kind clients that desire imagery that is in line with my skillset and brand. I want to work with clients that value quality, timeless, elegant imagery that captures their lives in a specific moment in time or milestone. I’d like to work with clients that are eager and excited to get in front of my camera, and who value an effortless, authentic photography experience. They aren’t looking for a transaction or a void/need filled by the photographer ‘just showing up’, but are looking to foster a relationship and partnership with their vendors that goes beyond just day-of. My clients are organized and attentive to details – they’re not poor communicators or ‘ghosters’, and are real adults who know what they want when it comes to their wedding day vision. My clients aren’t going to challenge me on my prices or ask for a ‘discount’ – they are ecstatic to have found their dream wedding photographer, and know the value and worth of having an experienced, professional photographer present for their wedding day! My clients are stylish, well read, and well traveled – they desire comfortable, exceptional experiences in life, and photographs are an extension to that approach! My clients are upper-middle class and beyond – they’re not looking to cheapen their life’s experiences, especially on a wedding day! They value quality and experience over cost and quantity – this applies to their wedding vendors, lifestyle, vacation choices, etc. But beyond being able to afford xyz, my clients are deeply good people. They’re 3D, ‘whole persons’ who are true members of their community, and seek to foster relationships and cultivate meaningful experiences for whoever they interact with. They look for ways to give back to their community as well – whether that’s volunteering, community service, etc. My ideal client is not your ‘traditional’ high-end, luxury client (what comes to mind is someone rather snooty and rich), but rather someone who wants the experience beyond just the photographs themselves.”
We worked together to expand Sarah’s color palette to be soft and romantic, but also warm and approachable. Her floral graphics carry the delicate and elegant vibe throughout her website.
Here’s what Sarah had to say about working together:
How did you feel about your visual identity before we started working together?
I felt that overall, I had a vague sense of where I wanted to take my visual identity, but not 100% clear means of getting my identity to where I wanted to be and what messaging and branding I wanted it to convey.
How do you feel about your brand now that our project is complete?
Oh my gosh, I don’t even know where to begin. I truly feel like upgrading my brand, website, and client engagement experience has completely elevated my brand! I feel that it conveys a strong, trusted, and beautiful message about the work I perform, and looks professional and elegant all at once. This is a balance and a ‘vibe’ I have been struggling with conveying properly for a year, and now I feel it sings true and represents me well!
How would you describe your experience working with me?
Jordan was an incredible designer to work with, meticulously organized, extremely positive, and was fully present and engaged with my project’s content and vision. I feel that she brought a sense of direction, professionalism, and strong attention to detail to my project, which were extremely important traits to me when I was looking to work with someone for my brand and website.
What do you love most about your new branding and website?
The attention to small, artistic details has really made all the difference – it’s this personal touch that I believe has truly conveyed a strong sense of professionalism and brand ‘realness’ that makes all the difference to perspective clients. The branding is consistent, detailed, and strongly aligns with my brand’s vision of romantic, trustworthy heirloom photography.
How has your new visual design impacted the way you do business?
I feel as though my new brand and website truly bring a sense of confidence and trustworthiness to the table while still continuing to elevate and showcase my imagery. These things, in turn, I believe make prospective clients take my work seriously and trust in the brand and client experience I cultivate for them.
Have you experienced any positive reactions since revealing your new brand?
I have significantly raised my prices and also significantly increased my inquiries for weddings in the two months since my launch! It has 100% taken my brand and my business to the next level, and has helped in attracting my ideal clients that I’m truly looking to book and work with!
What would you say to a friend who was on the fence about investing in my design experience?
Make key investments in you and your business as you grow, and ensure that your visuals support and elevate your work! Working with Jordan completely ensures that you make a strong investment in your business in something as important as your online presence.
